Our long-time bookseller, Mimi Applebaum, is in need of a heart transplant. As you can imagine, this is a very serious and expensive endeavor and will mean that she will be relocating to another city to await the transplant and then start her recuperation. Read her blog here for new information.
Inklings will be helping in an effort to raise money for Mimi's care and living expenses. Since February is National Heart Month, it seems the perfect time to give Mimi some help and encouragement. She is also working with the National Foundation for Transplants, a non-profit foundation, to help coordinate these efforts.
If your heart is moved by Mimi's need, you may donate online here. She also sends out updates on her blog, LetsShootTheMoon. Some of her expenses will be covered by insurance, but she will still needapproximately $85,000 for all that is involved in this procedure. You may also donate in the store. Your donations are tax-deductible.
Mimi is a dear young woman who has had more health challenges than most people would in several lifetimes. Please consider what you can do to help her. It has been our experience that Yakima is full of people with big and generous hearts. Please join with us.
