Poetry Reading with Marie Marchand
Marie Marchand is Poet Laureate of Ellensburg, WA. Her poetry has been published
in Catamaran Literary Reader, California Quarterly, Paterson Literary Review, Tiny Seed Journal, High
Plains Register, and numerous chapbooks. She has two books of poetry: Pink Sunset Luminaries (2018)
and Gifts to the Attentive (Winter Goose Publishing, 2022). Her poetry has been recognized by the Allen
Ginsberg Poetry Awards, Wyoming Writers Prize, and Sue C. Boynton Poetry Contest.
In this collection, Marie Marchand’s poems traverse the domains of reverence,
resilience, and reverie. While some poems move through despair into hope, others hover in the
questions and stand as witnesses to life’s emerging dialectic. Marchand illuminates the transcendent
within the ordinary, so that a trip to the grocery store becomes a holy surrender, and “orphaned
earrings” and “crayons melted by the sun” become infused with revelatory presence. Marchand’s
poems exude a quiet power of deepening awareness, inviting the reader to a place of healing.
