Dennis Dauble, author of Bury Me With My Fly Rod

Inklings is delighted to welcome award-winning author and fisherman Dennis Dauble for a reading and signing

Dennis Dauble is a retired fisheries scientist and award-winning author of the natural history guidebook, Fishes of the Columbia Basin, in addition to two previous short story collections about the fishing experience: The Barbless Hook and One More Last Cast. Whether via humor, wit, or self-reflection, his personal accounts of a day on the water will entertain and inform.

BURY ME WITH MY FLY ROD is a 24-story collection of stories (with secret family recipes) that lead you on a “spoke of the wheel” tour of northeastern Oregon trout streams, hikes into Spirit Mountain, and by the author’s cabin in the Umatilla River canyon. Regale in tales about grasshoppers on a string, beaver scat, dogs that herd trout, and how not to teach your honey to cast. Swing a fly for steelhead on the Deschutes and Columbia rivers, and chase “Brownies” on the Isle of Skye.

“Dennis Dauble writes with humor and eloquence about fly fishing’s capacity to reach across generations, connecting family, friends, and fishing companions. His deep respect for tradition, rivers, and fish, make these very important stories."
- Craig Schuman, Editor of Fly Fishing & Tying Journal and Author of 40 Great American Trout Flies.
